The judges commented that Anglo American’s report focused explicitly on its responsibilities as a resources company, with strategic themes clearly explained and echoed throughout. The innovative overview of how the company navigates each stage of the economic cycle was especially outstanding.
René Médori, Finance Director of Anglo American, congratulated the team, saying: “This is a very prestigious award and we are honoured to be receiving it for the second time. Gaining the trust of stakeholders is a clear imperative for all businesses, and is all the more critical in the mining industry. Anglo American’s reporting is a reflection on the way we do business and reinforces our view of the importance of providing stakeholders with clearly presented, compelling and transparent information.”
The annual Building Public Trust Awards, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, place a particular focus on the clarity and transparency of reporting, across the four categories of the FTSE100, the FTSE250, the public sector and overseas companies.
