Infrastructure South Africa hosted the second South African Green Hydrogen Summit, showcasing the country's potential as a world-class green hydrogen production hub as well as a key component of our future energy mix, at the Century City Convention Centre from 15 – 17 October 2023.

South Africa has the potential to become a leading green hydrogen producer, boosting exports and domestic use, fostering economic development, re-industrialisation, and job creation.

Together with Sasol and BMW Group we can catalyse the forming of a green hydrogen ecosystem, propelling us forward on our mission to accelerate towards a more sustainable world.

With cutting-edge fuel-cell technologies powering the BMW iX5 Hydrogen, we'll test real-life performance of FCEVs on South African roads and enable the growth of hydrogen-fuelled mobility solutions as part of the South African government’s green hydrogen economy strategy.

Unlocking opportunities for a Just Energy Transition

We believe in the power of partnerships to build a greener, safer, more sustainable world. Anglo American Platinum has signed a ground-breaking agreement with BMW South Africa and Sasol to introduce BMW iX5 Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen refuelling stations in South Africa as part of an international trial.

This collaboration will make mobility more responsible and sustainable, while unlocking opportunities that enable a just transition.

The power of PGMs

Platinum group metals (PGMs) have a vital role to play in enabling a hydrogen economy, as they are crucial in many energy-transition technologies, including hydrogen-related applications, and potentially in new applications in the chemicals and biochemicals sectors.
